Sales of Wii Console Surpass 8 Million in Japan

wii console

In Japan this week, sales of the Wii console surpassed 8 million units. Since its release date in December of 2006, the Wii has sold 8,000,540 consoles.

The new sales milestone underscores how well the Wii has performed, especially relative to its competitors. The Sony PS3 has only sold three million units in Japan, while XBOX 360 has sold one million.

In other words, the Wii has sold twice as many units as all of its competitors put together. However, the outlook for Wii is not so bright.

Sales of the Wii device have been declining rapidly in recent months. Nintendo's president recently commented on the slowing Japanese market, calling the conditions unhealthy for the Wii.

About the Bluetooth Logo

bluetooth logo

The Bluetooth logo has an interesting history behind it. In order to understand the Bluetooth graphic, you first have to understand the Bluetooth name.

The name "Bluetooth" drives from the Danish name, Blatand, of King Harald the First of Denmark. The king united many different tribes into one kingdom, which is what Bluetooth sought out to do with various protocols of communication.

Bluetooth's logo combines two Germanic runes that translate into the letters "H" and "B." The letters stand for "Harald" and "Bluetooth."

The runes pictured in the logo are Hagall and Berkanan. When joined together, the two characters form a bind rune.

how much will the ps3 cost

How much will the PS3 cost in 2009? Despite many rumors to the contrary, the price of the PS3 is expected to remain the same for the rest of 2009.

On the other hand, Sony recently announced plans to cut the price of its older console, the PS2. As of April 1, the price of the PS2 was cut to $99.

Sony is not expected to reevaluate the price of the PS3 anytime this year. However, some experts believe Sony will soon cut the price of the system in order to remain competitive with XBOX 360 and Wii.

Several game analysts have predicted a potential price drop in June. Other experts believe Sony will save the price cut until the arrival of the holiday shopping season around October.

Silliest Wii Addons

wii addons

Not all addons are worth your money. In this post, we'll discuss a few of the silliest Wii addons on the market.

First off, we have the Wii fishing rod designed for games like Sega Bass Fishing and Fishing Master. This accessory looks nothing like a real fishing rod, for one, and it actually gets in the way of gameplay.

Next, we have the Wii pom-poms, designed for the games We Cheer and All Star Cheer Squad. Aside from looking cheap and ridiculous, the pom-poms don't even work with We Cheer, one of the very games for which they were designed.

Finally, we have the Wii cooking kit, intended for various installments of the Cooking Mama series. These attachments are impractical primarily because users have to switch utensils quickly in the game, and changing out addons on Wii remotes is not the easiest process.
