Nintendo Wii Enjoys Unprecedented Sales

The sales of the Nintendo Wii continue to break records despite the recession. Sales of the Wii recently hit 50 million devices worldwide, putting the competition to shame.

Wii Sales for January and February were up by 91% from last year. Nintendo executives believe the system continues to sell because consumers perceive it as a good value with long term playability.

"For people looking to get the most entertainment value, the hours of fun out of Nintendo is unsurpassed," explained Nintendo's VP of sales and marketing for the U.S. "It's something the whole family can enjoy."

Nintendo executives also dismiss criticism that its games do not perform as well with critics as XBOX and PS3 games. They claim that the best measure of success is sales, an area in which Nintendo continues to exceed expectations.
