Wii Sales of "Sports Resort" Game Could Break Records

wii sales

Wii sales of the "Wii Sports Resort" game have officially hit one million worldwide. The accessory that comes with the game, the Wii MotionPlus, is also doing quite well.

Nintendo reports that over two million people have purchased the motion-controlled accessory. The MotionPlus also comes packaged with "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10."

At this rate, "Wii Sports Resort" has the strong potential to be the year's best-selling video game. Nintendo believes sales will pick up even more in the fall and winter months when consumers will be more drawn to the game's tropical island resort theme.

"Sports Resort" is the follow-up game to the incredibly popular "Wii Sports" that came packaged with the original Wii system. Gamers can choose from 12 island-themed activities to play with up to four people.

Smallest MP3 Portable Players

mp3 portable players

With the push toward larger and larger storage capacities, MP3 players seem to have gotten bigger over the years, not smaller. However, buyers still have a good selection of ultra-small MP3 portable players from which to choose.

In CNET's rankings of the best small MP3 players on the market, one of the winners was the Samsung S2 Pebble device. This player comes in a variety of colors and boasts a 1 GB storage capacity.

The Pebble is also remarkably affordable with a price tag of just $39.99. The device comes with a lanyard so listeners can wear the Pebble around their necks.

According to CNET, the small Pebble packs an incredible punch in sound quality. The only criticism CNET had was that the device doesn't have a screen, which makes operating the player difficult sometimes.

Slim Version of Sony PS3 Could Be on Its Way

sony ps3

Rumors of the Sony PS3 slim have been circulating for months, but lately they've become much more than rumors. Reportedly, Sony will unveil the slim PS3 in Europe in September.

In addition to its newly trim figure, the PS3 slim will also come with a substantial price cut. It is expected to sell for about $424 in Europe, which is $141 less than its current price.

Allegedly, Sony will only issue the PS3 slim as a limited edition rather than a replacement of the original console. Sony continues to refuse to discount the price of the current console, which might account for its lagging sales.

The device will be officially unveiled at Gamescom next week. There is no word as to when the PS3 slim will appear on North American shelves.
